about us

African Movie Channel (AMC) is a global player in the rapidly expanding African film industry which is the third largest film industry in the world.

African Movie Channel UK Ltd is a limited company incorporated in the United Kingdom on the 28th of February, 2005.

AMC launched Europe’s first channel dedicated to top quality Nollywood and other African movies, in the UK, in April 2006. In the same year, AMC also entered a pact with British Telecom (BT) to make a selection of its movies available on the BT Vision Download Store.

In May 2007, AMC launched its worldwide On-Demand channel, delivering full-screen DVD quality for every African movie as standard anywhere in the world.

AMC has built a successful business since its launch through its exploitation of its extraordinary library of over 1000 quality African movies, increasing daily, and 100s of hours of award-winning soaps and, series and dramas from all over Africa, making it undisputedly the largest African content aggregator in the business.

AMC sources all movies and other content direct from the original master versions, thus guaranteeing exceptional technical quality. The channel is refreshed with some 6 titles every Friday.

AMC On-Demand is 100% legal. Every rights owner or their representative has unique access to AMC’s online Licensor Reporting Utility (ALRU), which provides real-time purchase statistics of their content on the channel.

It remains completely technically impossible to copy or pirate content on the channel, as AMC in a unique partnership with its technical partners, Stream UK encrypts every content (other than free content) using the latest Microsoft Digital Rights Management technologies prior to going live.

AMC has established strong content and platform partnerships which ensures that it can consistently offer the best African content across all distribution platforms.
